A friend’s backyard in Connecticut in late summer offered a pretty setting for some of my favorite vinyasa yoga poses. Vinyasa flow yoga fans will recognize the goddess yoga pose — also known as the goddess squat or Utkata Konasana — in this post. The goddess pose opens the hips and chest while strengthening and toning the lower body. To execute this pose, place your feet approximately three feet apart. Most of us do yoga in studios but getting outside lends a special feeling to yoga. The fresh air and sun make a mama feel good! Even if you’re short on time, try stepping outside and stretching or doing yoga. Ten minutes of fresh air and breathing along with using your muscles can change your entire day.
