Getting a new yoga mat requires some thought, insight and research. It’s a tool or accessory that provides you with comfort, cleanliness and a convenient workout area. Grabbing a generic brand off a store shelf may not provide you with your specific requirements. You have to consider thickness, texture and importantly, what material it’s made from.
Some people prefer a flat smooth surface, whereas I love textured surfaces. The Easy Roll mat has a small patterned non-slip textured surface that slightly sticky for a good grip. It feels so nice on the toes and fingers – and those accidental face plants. It’s 6mm thick and offers a nice spongy surface area where your knees and derriere will feel at peace. I get that it can make it harder to feel a strong connection to the floor, but it’s so nice on the joints — especially if you have arthritis or mobility issue. You have to take your circumstances into consideration and get a mat that works for you – don’t worry about the cool girls who have ultra-thin mats. For me, the 6mm works perfectly and I love the two-tone color – purple and gray – option a well.
